At the session of the Greek Parliament's Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee held on 29 May 2003, a decision was adopted to put the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) of the Republic of Croatia to vote. Greece announced that voting is to be held next week at the earliest or in 14 days at the latest.

In the presence of Mr. Andreas Loverdos, Greek Deputy Foreign Minister, representatives of the Panhelenic Socialist Party, the New Democracy Party and the Coalition of the Left voted for referring the SAA of the Republic of Croatia to the Parliament.

After the discussion of the ratification of the EU-Croatia Stabilisation and Association Agreement in the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, the Greek Foreign Minister stated:

“The parliamentary concession received today is very important. This agreement, together with the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between EU and FYROM, which was ratified on May 27, as well as the implementation of the Balkan Program, are within the framework of initiatives that our country has taken bilaterally and within the EU in order to support the European course of the Western Balkan countries”.
