Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić 28 November held political consultations with the Undersecretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Henryka Mościcka-Dendys.

The two officials underlined the very good bilateral relations between Croatia and Poland, highlighting the need to strengthen economic cooperation. They pointed out joint interests in various areas, such as linking the two countries’ energy and transport networks. Marušić stressed in particular the importance of strengthening the cooperation in Central Europe and linking the Adriatic with the Baltic.

Speaking about the importance of education as the basic precondition for a successful EU membership, Marušić presented projects involving the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs: the Centre of Excellence, the University of Zagreb’s Specialist Diplomatic Postgraduate Study, and the European Interdisciplinary Study being launched at the University of Rijeka.  

Marušić and Mościcka-Dendys also discussed EU topics, including the investment plan presented by the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. The two officials agreed that Croatia and Poland’s primary interest was to implement measures aimed at stimulating economic growth and employment. They also discussed the EU enlargement policy, notably in regard to Southeast Europe. Concerning the EU neighbourhood policy, special attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine.
