Assistant Minister Marušić holds political consultations in Finland

Enlargement policy, economic crisis in the EU and economic diplomacy were the focus of the talks Assistant Minister for European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić held with K. Halonen, the State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office, and J. Ottman, the Deputy Director for Europe at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In regard to the enlargement policy, the talks pointed out Croatia’s role as a new EU member in transferring the know-how and experiences to the countries of Southeast Europe undergoing the European integration process. Croatia will get actively involved in the reform processes as part of the Union’s common policies, including economic policies in light of the current crisis. Marušić familiarized the Finnish officials with the plan to develop economic diplomacy and expressed interest in Finland’s experiences in that area. The Finnish side presented the Team Finland project encompassing state administration bodies and the private sector with the aim to jointly promote Finnish economy on the global market.

At separate talks with Pekka Soini, the Director General of Tekes – Finland’s leading research and innovation funding agency, Marušić discussed cooperation in joint twinning projects towards countries in the region.
