Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Batistić Kos 22 May received a delegation from the Ministry of Relations with the Parliament and Civil Society, state institutions and the National Committee for Civil Society Dialogue of the Kingdom of Morocco

Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Batistić Kos 22 May received a delegation from the Ministry of Relations with the Parliament and Civil Society, state institutions and the National Committee for Civil Society Dialogue of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Moroccan delegation is staying in Croatia 19-23 May as part of study visit aimed at offering professional support for setting up a mechanism of structural dialogue and sharing the knowledge on strategic framework of government-civil society cooperation. The visit was organized by the Government’s Office for NGOs.

The meeting discussed the activities and possible cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest as well as the importance of cooperation with the civil society. The focus of the exchange are the legal, institutional and financial framework of support for the civil society, standards of conferring with the civil society in preparing and implementing public policies, as well as the practice and standards of social services.

Batistić Kos pointed out that development cooperation was an important part of Croatia’s foreign policy and that the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs wanted to help the civil society strengthen its capacities, gather the know-how and experiences and begin to participate independently in international development projects.

The interlocutors agreed that international development cooperation was an important instrument in fighting poverty and strengthening global partnerships. In times of growingly complex and mutually conditioned international relations, development cooperation becomes even more important and assumes the central role in each country’s foreign policy.
