Foreign Minister's Advisor on Human Rights and Civil Society, Andrea Feldman, has received today representatives of Ad Hoc Initiative for Peace and Non-violence from Rijeka.

Representatives of the Ad Hoc Initiative handed Feldman the petition signed by more than 7000 citizens of Rijeka protesting against the war in Iraq, expressing their disappointment with Croatia's support for the Vilnuis Group, and pleading for Croatia's neutrality in regard to the war against Iraq.

Feldman said that she greatly respects the efforts of the NGOs to promote democracy in Croatia. Croatia's foreign policy objectives are membership in the EU and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and the efforts of the civil society and the NGOs to promote peace and non-violence will help Croatia reach European standards.
