Agreement signed on Program between Government of RC and Kingdom of Denmark for implementation of Denmark’s Pre-Accession Assistance to RC for 2005-2007

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Croatia, Berno Kjelsden, signed today, 30 November 2005, the Agreement on the Program between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Kingdom of Denmark on general terms for the implementation of the Kingdom of Denmark’s Pre-Accession Assistance to the Republic of Croatia for 2005-2007

The signing of the Agreement marks the continuation of the successful co-operation with the Kingdom of Denmark, which began in 2000 with the ABC of the EU project.

The Agreement has created a framework for the setting up of an efficient administration and an improved system of personnel management in accordance with the European principles of good management. The Denmark’s Pre-Accession Assistance Program was approved by the Danish Parliament on 15 June 2005, allotting Croatia 13.5 million kunas worth of funds for the 2005-2007 period.

The Program, developed through a flexible fund and a permanent advisor at the Center for Expert and Professional Training of the Central State Office for Administration, will facilitate the reform of the state administration.

Since human potential development within the state administration is one of the basic preconditions for a successful EU accession, this Agreement is an important step forward in increasing the state administration’s efficiency, and that includes improving the human resource development system, which will help create a flexible and efficient service for the citizens.
