Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić attended as part of the UN General Assembly in New York the Rule of Law High Level Meeting themed “Women’s Access to Justice”, organized by Finland and South Africa

The meeting aimed to draw attention of the UN member states, the UN itself, regional organizations and civil society to the need to improve women’s access to justice worldwide, as well as a stronger political and financial commitment to concrete activities. Human rights, namely the rights of women and girls, are one of Minister Pusić’s foreign-policy priorities. To that end, Croatia passed the 2011-2015 National Gender Equality Strategy, which includes the implementation of the Gender Equality Law.

The same day, invited by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Pusić attended the launch of the Equal Futures Partnership initiative, through which the US intend to create a partnership network of states which would guarantee on the highest, presidential level that the assumed responsibilities regarding the enhancement of the position of women are met. The founding states are Denmark and Finland, while the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Croatia have expressed interest in partnership.
