On this occasion Lord Wallace expressed the British full support to Croatia's accession to the European Union, saying that he was convinced that this process would soon be completed. Among other positive aspects of Croatia's joining the EU, such as the strengthening of economic relations with the United Kingdom's business community, Lord Wallace also said that this would strengthen Croatia's partnership role in the European market.

Minister Jandroković said that Croatia was aware of the importance of continuing with reforms and meeting all the criteria necessary for the EU membership, remarking on the progress achieved so far. He also added that Croatia's example would serve as an incentive for other countries in the region of South East Europe to continue working on their road to the EU, stressing the importance of keeping the EU membership perspective open for them.

Lord Wallace took interest in the situation in the region of South East Europe. In the talks related to that topic, the parties addressed the meeting of the representatives of the American Adriatic Charter, held the day before, and emphasised the importance of Croatia's role in stabilising and keeping the safety in this region.
