The collocutors agreed that the relations between the Republic of Croatia and the State of Israel are excellent, and have been intensified in the past couple of years, especially since 2005 when Israel opened an Embassy in the Republic of Croatia. A firm commitment towards continuing Croatian – Israeli political dialogue in all issues of mutual interest has been expressed by both sides. Furthermore, the collocutors expressed confidence that, on the basis of the established political dialogue, political and economic relations between the two countries will further strengthen in the future.

Minister Jandroković congratulated on the membership of the State of Israel in the OECD, which was granted last week. He also took the opportunity to extend greetings form the Prime Minister of Croatia, Jadranka Kosor, as well as her invitation for an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.

Stressing that, after becoming a NATO member country, membership in the European Union is Croatian primary foreign policy goal; Minister Jandroković briefed Prime Minister Netanyahu on the current state of the accession process. He also emphasized Croatia’s readiness to implement all the necessary reforms and fulfil all obligations so that the technical side of the negotiation process could be finalised by the end of this year.

There was mention of causes and consequences of the economic crisis, situation in the south–eastern Europe and in the Near East. In the context of the Israeli – Palestinian peace process, Minister Jandroković said the Republic of Croatia supports all efforts aimed at restoring mutual dialogue and continuing the peace negotiations.

Today, Minister Jandroković will also meet the Member of Knesset and president of the Israeli-Croatian Friendship League, Moshe Matalon.
