The collocutors mainly discussed Japanese – Croatian relations concerning shipbuilding, air transport and tourism, and their further improvement.

Since almost 165,000 Japanese tourists visited Croatia in 2009, the collocutors perceived a chance to set up the first Japanese – Croatian initial meeting which should serve as a stepping stone for negotiations which would lead to signing the Agreement on Air Cooperation, and later also establishing direct air connection between Japan and Croatia.

Ambassador Štambuk briefed his collocutors on Croatia’s potentials in shipbuilding and the programme of privatisation of Croatian shipyards which is ongoing. In the context of Croatia’s sea connection, he emphasized the quality of Croatian captains and high–ranking officers, 300 of who work on Japanese ships.
