The meeting discussed the priorities of Spain’s EU presidency in the first half of 2010, as well as the 18-month presidency plan jointly drawn up by Spain and the future presiding countries Belgium and Hungary.

Minister Jandroković thanked for the cooperation and support Croatia had received from the EU members and the EU Delegation in the past year, expressing hope that the cooperation would continue during this year as well, for which the goal is the completion of Croatia’s EU negotiations. In that regard, the minister said Croatia would remain dedicated to the efficient and thorough implementation of reforms, with a special emphasis on the key areas such as the justice reforms, combating corruption, the strengthening of administrative capacities and full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague.

Minister Jandroković also attended the working lunch with the ambassadors and representatives of the EU members’ diplomatic mission accredited to Croatia. He familiarized them with the Croatian Government’s priorities, as well as with the achievements and goals regarding Croatia’s EU accession. In that regard, he expressed belief in achieving further progress at the next Intergovernmental Conference, scheduled for February 19th.

The collocutors also talked about the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, with Minister Jandroković pointing out that Croatia fully supported the EU enlargement as one of the most successful policies so far, spreading the area of peace, security and prosperity. He described the European perspective of South Eastern Europe as important for the stability and future of the entire region.
