Together with the topics relevant for the occasion, participation of the Republic of Croatia in the UN system, in particular the Security Council, was also discussed. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon mentioned his recent meeting with the highest Croatian officials and the upcoming meeting with President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesić. On that occasion, he pointed out the very constructive contribution of the Republic of Croatia to the overall activities of the UN, and its significant contribution to peace operations worldwide.

Furthermore, they discussed the leading role of the UN in resolving the world crises, in particular concerning the issue of climate changes, and the Croatian side confirmed its continued and full support to the UN’s activities in this field.
