The lecture was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković, State Secretary for Organization and Management Maja Vrtarić, Department Directors and numerous employees of the Ministry.

On the occasion, Mr. Lončar talked about the current political and economic challenges on the international stage of foreign policy and diplomacy. He especially highlighted the impact of the global economic crisis which changed the view of the world completely, as well as the need to find solutions for this crisis through joint efforts on a global level. In that context, guidelines for a new course of action can be found in the G20 Summit Conclusions, the adaptation of the NATO to new challenges, the reform of the UN and the IMF, as well as the first foreign policy moves by President of the Unites States of America Barack Obama.

When answering questions, Mr. Lončar said that the policy of American President Obama, which promotes mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation between countries, was a long expected step forward in confronting global challenges. Discussions on the new world order had never been so intense as today, and greater cooperation and balance among the leading global factors should result in a more just system in general, concluded Mr. Lončar.
