“The Regional Housing Programme is an excellent example of cross-border cooperation. The sad issue of housing refugees and displaced persons in the region is an issue that should be resolved in order to close the chapter of wars in Southeast Europe and change the region’s image. We will not leave this region and should work on its image so that it grows into a symbol of stability. This is an important element and Croatia will insist on it,” said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić in her welcoming remarks at the 10th Regional Coordination Forum, held today at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. She also expressed satisfaction with the onset of the programme’s implementation stage, notably the construction of an apartment building in Korenica.
The meeting also saw the attendance of representatives of OSCE, the US Embassy, European Commission, UNHCR, Refugee and Migration Commissariat (Serbia), Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Refugee Housing Directorate (Montenegro), Council of Europe Development Bank, and on the Croatian part the Ministry of Labour and Pension System, State Office for Reconstruction and Housing Care, and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
