Visa extension
The validity period of the visa and/or the duration of stay granted on the basis of the issued visa may be extended when it is considered that the visa holder has delivered the proof of:
- a force majeure or humanitarian reasons that have prevented him/her to leave the territory of the Republic of Croatia before the end of the validity period or the duration of stay granted by the visa (free of charge);
- serious personal reasons that justify the extension of the validity period or the duration of stay (fee 30 EUR – counter value in HRK according to the exchange rate of the Croatian National Bank on the day of payment)
The application for the extension of the visa and/or duration of stay is submitted to the police administration/station in Croatia depending on the place of stay before the expiry of the visa and/or the duration of stay approved based on the issued visa.
The applicant for the extension of the validity period of the visa and/or the duration of stay shall:
- fill in the Visa Application Form and sign it manu propria
- produce a valid travel document;
- enclose the documents proving the the reasons for the visa extension;
- submit the proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the extra period of stay in Croatia;
- submit the proof of travel health insurance for the extra period of stay in Croatia.
The visa shall be extended in the form of a new visa sticker.
A person may stay in the territory of the Republic of Croatia until the moment of the reaching of the decision upon the request.
Note: Despite the extension of the validity period of the visa, a third-country national MAY NOT stay in the Republic of Croatia for longer than 90 days in each 180-day period.
FEE PAYMENT: The fee for visa extension can be paid via internet banking, in favour of the State Budget, to the IBAN account HR1210010051863000160, model HR64, reference: 5002-713-410.
If the decision on the extension of a visa validity period and/or the duration of stay is refused, it shall be submitted to a third-country national on a proper form, together with the reasons thereof.
A person has the right to appeal against the decision within 15 days from the receipt of the decision, through a competent embassy or a consulate of the Republic of Croatia.
The appeal shall be decided upon by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Where a concerned party withdraws the request for the visa extension and/or duration of stay, a police administration/station shall decide that the procedure has been discontinued.
