On 20 December 2013 in New York the Republic of Croatia has deposited the instruments of ratification of the amendments to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court of crime of aggression and to the Amendment to the Article 8 of the Rome Statute on war crimes.
The aforesaid amendments were adopted in June 2010 in Kampala, Uganda. With Croatia’s deposition of instruments of ratification, the overall number of ratifications of the crime of aggression has been brought to thirteen; overall number of ratifications of the Amendment to the Article 8 now stands at sixteen. Croatia is seventh European Union Member State that has ratified these amendments.
Croatian Parliament ratified the Amendment to the Article 8 of the Rome Statute on war crimes and the Amendments to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court of Aggression on 8 November 2013 in Zagreb.
The ratification instruments were presented to the United Nations Office of the Legal Affairs by H.E. Mr. Vladimir Drobnjak, Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations in New York. A noted presence at the ceremony was of H.E. Mr. Christian Wenaweser, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the United Nations in New York and former President of the Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Ceremony was also attended by the representative from the Office of the President of the Assembly of State Parties.
