MFEA welcomes signing of agreements on new mission to Afghanistan

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs welcomes yesterday’s signing of the Status of Forces Agreement between NATO and Afghanistan and the Bilateral Security Agreement between the United States and Afghanistan, which provide the legal basis for NATO’s future engagement in Afghanistan within the Resolute Support. The mission starts January 1st 2015 and its goal is to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces. This would mark the completion of the NATO-led international mission ISAF. With its participation in the ISAF, Croatia has contributed to the Alliance and international community’s goals in Afghanistan. The continued engagement will further contribute to the stabilization and development of the Afghan society, and Croatia is prepared to continue giving its contribution.
