The handover ceremony between 18th and 19th Croatian contingent in ISAF and NATO award medal ceremony to members of the 18th HRVCON was held on Sunday, 11 March 2012, in the Warehouse Camp in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The handover was attended by Commander of Regional Command Capital Turkish Brigadier General Levent Gözkaya, Afghan Brigadier General Sayed Ahmad Shah, and commanders of national contingents of France, Germany, New Zealand, Portugal, Hungary, Bulgaria and many other senior dignitaries. On the same occasion HRVCON members were given NATO medals for participation in the mission.
Handing over the flag of the commander of the 19th HRVCON Colonel Tomislav Galic, commander of the 18th HRVCON Colonel Marijo Sambolec said that we witnessed the ISAF operation entering a crucial phase of security transition that would require additional efforts in building the conditions for achieving stability and prosperity of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Welcoming the members of the Croatian contingent in ISAF General Levent Gözkaya stressed the importance of Croatian engagement, thanking for the professional approach and commitment in performing the tasks in the Regional Command Capital.
Thanking for efforts of HRVCON members in the ISAF that they have been investing in training of Afghan security forces, Brigadier General Sayed Ahmad Shah said that Afghanistan respects the efforts of the international community in building the Afghan army and police.
Welcoming the participants as the new commander of the 19th HRVCON Colonel Tomislav Galic said that 18th HRVCON set high standards, but it would be a professional challenge and motivation for new breakthroughs.
