Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic sent a letter of sympathy to US State Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks against the US that took place on 11 September 2001. In the letter sent on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and himself, Minister Jandrokovic expressed deep sympathy with State Secretary Clinton and the American people in moments of remembrance of the nearly three thousand innocent citizens who lost their lives ten years ago this day in the terrorist attacks against the symbols of American freedom and strength. Today, when the American people come together to remember the victims of the tragic events on 11 September 2001, we join in prayers for all those who lost their lives in the irrational and cowardly terrorist attacks, minister Jandrokovic said. 11 September 2001 changed the world and all of our lives forever. That day brought painful understanding of our vulnerability in the combat against terrorism, but also the awareness that only if we are united we can defend the common democratic values, freedom and human rights, Minister Jandrokovic highlighted in his letter to State Secretary Clinton. He also stressed that the Republic of Croatia is prepared to share the responsibility and is determined to remain at the side of the US and the international community in the combat against terrorism with the aim of ensuring democracy, world peace and prosperity.
