The delegation of the Ministry of Defence, led by MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic participated on Wednesday, 1 December 2010, on the conference of countries that have their military forces deployed in Regional Command North in the ISAF operation.
The conference was organized at the initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Defence and the host of the conference were the Director of Joint Operations Department Admiral Andreas Krause and Assistant Chief of General Staff of the German Armed Forces Major General Karl Müllner.
Conference topics included the issues of development of political process and situation in Afghanistan, results and implementation of the conclusions of the NATO Summit in Lisbon in relation to Afghanistan, and as a specific area of interest, the conference addressed the issues of implementation of the transition process in the Regional Command North, as well as the challenges ahead.
They also discussed the issues of further engagement of mentoring and training capabilities to support the implementation of the new allied strategy in Afghanistan. The conference was attended as a guest speaker by Ambassador Michael Steiner, Special Envoy of the German Federal Government for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
