Croatian MOD delegation led by the MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic donated six official dogs with all the equipment to Iraqi security forces on Wednesday, December 16, on the Baghdad airport, and thus officially completed the project of training of Iraqi security forces for the guides of official dogs for detection of explosives.

Croatian MOD delegation led by the MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic donated six official dogs with all the equipment to Iraqi security forces on Wednesday, December 16, on the Baghdad airport, and thus officially completed the project of training of Iraqi security forces for the guides of official dogs for detection of explosives. The Iraqi Deputy Interior Minister Major General Hussein thanked on the valuable donation stressing that this was the first time that Iraq got this kind of assistance and thanked the MOD State Secretary Simunovic on his personal involvement and for visiting Iraq. "Iraq highly appreciates the gesture and help of the Croatian Ministry of Defense", said General Hussein stressing that he believed this was the beginning of fruitful cooperation between the two countries. MOD State Secretary Simunovic highlighted Croatia's commitment for stability and security of Iraq, stressing that the MOD was ready and opened for further cooperation in the education and training of Iraqi security forces. MOD delegation together with the Chief of the Special Mission of the Republic of Croatia to Iraq, Ambassador Jerko Vukas visited the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Iraq. There they were received by the Senior Adviser to the Minister of Defence General Mohan al Furaiji. In friendly and open discussion, the talks were on the security situation in Iraq as well as on the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries. It was concluded that there was a mutual desire to expand it, particularly in the areas of training and equipping of Iraqi security forces. www.morh.hr
