Distinguished Ladies and Gentleman,
The Republic of Croatia was the victim of senseless aggression and thanks to, most of all, our own efforts, the aggression was terminated and the aggressor defeated.
However, we must also not forget the efforts of the International Community which assisted, in the context of complex global circumstances, by humanitarian and peacekeeping operations. Today, the Republic of Croatia is able to assist others who are in need of the same kind of help. We take part in the UN and NATO led peacekeeping operations. We have proven that we are highly motivated and competent in different International activities, which is also recognized on behalf of our partners.
We are determined to continue in that direction, down the path of constructing International peace and stability. We are also determined to become a full member of NATO Alliance in order to be able to contribute to the building of International stability and safety, together with other NATO member countries.
