Croatian Parliament approved in December 2010 participation of 350 Croatian forces in ISAF in 2011 and 2012 (Official Gazette - NN 141/10). 19. Croatian contingent (HRVCON) is currently deployed in ISAF. Croatian civilian team is part of the PRT Feyzabad in RC North since January 2005. The lead nation of PRT Feyzabad is Germany. Croatia participates in EU lead EUPOL-Afghanistan with civilian police. General information on ISAF The peacekeeping operation International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan was established in accordance with the Bonn Agreement of December 2001, and was approved by the UN SCR 1386. NATO has been in charge of ISAF command and co-ordination since August 11th, 2003, as the first mission outside of the traditional Euro-Atlantic area. The main task of ISAF is to assist the Afghan government in creating a stable and secure environment in the country through assistance in: security maintenance, training and organization of national security structures, programs of disarmament and reconstruction projects. The area of operation was originally limited to Kabul and its surroundings, but has been expanded since to other parts of the country. The expansion is carried out through Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT), civil-military teams led by one or more nations, whose main goal is to help Afghan government expand its authority to the whole country.
