FM Pejcinovic Buric attends meeting of Visegrad Plus group

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejcinovic Buric 11 May 2018 attended a meeting of foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic), the Quadrilateral (Croatia, Greece, Romania and Bulgaria), Slovenia, Cyprus and the Western Balkan countries. This is the second meeting in this format after one in Budapest in 2017. The meeting was hosted by Greece and its topics included the future of Europe, EU enlargement and energy. Pejcinovic Buric underscored the added value of cooperation in this format, which enabled the exchange of experiences in seeking a solution to various issues of common interest, from energy, infrastructure, economy and migration to security, cohesion policies and regional development. She especially emphasized the importance of EU enlargement and the fact that the Bulgarian chair of the Council of the EU and Romania’s upcoming chair have highlighted enlargement as one of their priorities. Enlargement will also be one of Croatia’s priorities when it chairs the Council of the EU in the first half of 2020, and Zagreb is planning to organise a summit dedicated to the topic. On the sidelines of the meeting, Pejcinovic Buric held talks with her Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias.
