Minister Pejčinović Burić formally opened the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Kazakhstan

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić visited Republic of Kazakhstan. During her stay in Nur-Sultan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pejčinović Burić met with Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov. Two ministers confirmed very good and friendly relations between their countries and stressed the need for further enhancement of overall, and especially economic, cooperation. They exchanged opinions on the current situation in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region. They also expressed satisfaction with the opening of the first Croatian embassy in Central Asia and their belief that this will contribute to intensifying cooperation between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pejčinović Burić also met with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin and the Speaker of the Senate Dariga Nazarbayeva. Both meetings were about strengthening parliamentary and bilateral co-operation.

During the visit, Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation in the fields of education and science was signed.

The visit to Kazakhstan ended with the ceremonial opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was attended by Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov, his Deputy Roman Vasilienko, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the representatives of the Croatian community in Kazakhstan.
