The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Kazakhstan presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev

The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Kazakhstan, Mr. Refik Šabanović presented his Credentials to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev on February 6, 2019. Together with Ambassador Šabanović, the ambassadors of Vietnam, Japan, Tajikistan and the Czech Republic presented their Credentials too. Addressing the new ambassadors, President Nazarbayev spoke about Kazakhstan's foreign policy priorities, especially about developing of economic relations with all the partners and maintaining an active role in promoting global peace, security and banning of nuclear weapons. In respect to Croatia, he especially emphasized the excellent bilateral relations and satisfaction with the opening of the Embassy in Astana.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Šabanović had the opportunity to exchange a few personal words with President Nazarbayev. He also conveyed the cordial greetings of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, and invited him to visit Croatia soon. At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Šabanović addressed the media with the short speech in which he especially mentioned the current economic relations between the two countries and the possibilities for their improvement. He emphasized that he was honored to be the first Croatian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, a beautiful country that he hopes to get to know much better, during the upcoming years. Ambassador Šabanović and his four colleagues were the last Ambassadors to present their credentials to President Nazarbayev. Shortly after, he resigned from that position, after 30 years at the helm of the country.
