Upon to the invitation of the Israeli side and pursuant to the decision of the Prime Minister, the Croatian Government immediately sent aid to the firefighting operation in the central part of the State of Israel, as well as it was the case in November 2016.
Israel recognizes Croatia as one of the leading nations in the field of firefighting, both in terms of experience and efficiency, and the recent involvement of Croatia in the European Civil Protection Mechanism (RescEU) is a testament to that.
Israeli state leadership expressed its gratitude to Croatia, a friend and partner state, for the readiness to engage and provide unreserved firefighting assistance, honoring Croatia and other international forces, which contributed in extinguishing the fires, in an official celebration ceremony at the Tel Nof, on 26 May 2019. Lieutenant Colonel Davor Turkovic, Officer for Defense Cooperation in Israel attended the ceremony.
