A leading Croatian folk (world music) singer Ms Dunja Knebl performed on Saturday night, 25 November 2006, at the “Rendezvous” hall of the South African State Theatre. Explaining and leading her own programme in English, she succeeded in acquainting the diverse audience with the traditional folk songs from Medimurje and other regions of north-western Croatia, which make the core of her repertory. The audience was made up by Croats from Pretoria, most of whom have their roots in Dalmatia (southern Croatia), foreign diplomats and South Africans. At the end of the concert, the audience even sang together with Dunja! In the morning of the same day Ms Knebl held a small music workshop for the Croatian South African children at the premises of the Croatian Catholic Centre of St. Jerome's in Houghton, Johannesburg. On Sunday, 26 November 2006, after the regular Sunday mass, she sang for Croatian South Africans in the Croatian Catholic church of St. Jerome in Houghton, Johannesburg.
