Heritage Day Celebrated in South Africa
Heritage Day, a South African national holiday, falls on 24 September annually. On this day, South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people. The children at Parkview Pre-Primary, Johannesburg, had fun celebrating Heritage Day. They were asked to dress up in traditional outfits that depict their heritage. Mila and Gia Matulovic are pictured here, proudly wearing Croatian-inspired traditional outfits made by their grandmother. The children at Parkview Pre-Premary also brought food related to their heritage, which each child got to taste and experience. Mila and Gia Matulovich enjoyed helping their mother bake traditional Croatian apple pie for the occasion.
