Croatian success at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa 2024 – ITFFA

The sixth edition of the International Tourism Film Festival Africa 2024 (ITFFA) was held from June 11 to 15, 2024 in Johannesburg. In a strong competition with 436 entries from 61 countries, the festival selected the best tourism promotional works, with a focus on conservation, cultural heritage, and sustainability, and the awards ceremony took place on Friday 14 June 2024 at the Sky Hotel in Johannesburg. The winners were chosen by an esteemed jury of 46 members, who equally represented the film and digital industries and the tourism sector.

 

Among the many competitors, Krapina Zagorje County won gold prizes and statues in two categories with the promotional film "Krapina Zagorje County" in the category (1) tourist video - tourist product and (2) tourist destination - region directed by Herve Tirmarche and produced by Spomenka Saraga. Also at the ITFFA, a Croatian promotional film called "Make Your Own Movie" won a silver award in the category tourist video - tourist destination - region, directed by Sanjin Stanić, produced by Ljubo Zdjelarević and Sanjin Stanić. The silver award in the video-tourist product category was also won by a promotional film called "Halubajski zvončari-bell ringers" by director and producer Krešimir Černek. It is worth noting that the promotional film entitled "Sleeping around safely with Istra, Croatia", by the American director and producer Michaela Guzy, won a silver award in the travel and tourism category.

 

From the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Pretoria, the award ceremony was attended by Iris Jurić Marijanović and Dario Klasić, who accepted the awards on behalf of the awardees. This event once again demonstrated its importance in recognizing and celebrating the talent and creativity of filmmakers around the world, and the key role that tourism plays in fostering understanding, preservation, and cultural appreciation.
