The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Pretoria, in cooperation with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), proudly presented the Croatian Film Festival 2015, which was held from 21st to 25th January 2015 at the movies@ Montecasino in Johannesburg. The following 8 recent movies were screened at the Festival: Cowboys, Vis-À-Vis, Handymen, Night Boats, Sonja and the Bull, Vegetarian Cannibal, Koko and the Ghosts, Gangster of Love. Entrance was free and all movies had English subtitles.
Ambassador Dr. Nenad Prelog pointed out how the cultural heritage of a country is one of the best ways to learn about a distant country, before actually travelling to it. High attendance at the Croatian Film Festival 2015 in South Africa, as well as numerous praises for the films screened, indicated once again how enthusiastic the Croatian diaspora in South Africa is for the connection with their homeland and its modern cultural heritage.
