Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia Ivan Picukaric presented in Gaborone credentials to President of the Republic of Botswana Seretse Khama Ian Khama, becoming the first accredited Croatian ambassador to that republic.
During his stay in Botswana, Ambassador Picukaric also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Phandu T. C. Skelemani, informing him about Croatia's foreign-policy priorities and the current state of its EU negotiations, as well as with Croatia's activities towards world peace and security.
Ambassador Picukaric expressed hope that apart from the good multilateral cooperation, bilateral cooperation between Croatia and Botswana would also grow stronger. Expressing interest in the strengthening of economic cooperation, the collocutors agreed that is was necessary to identify other possible areas of cooperation as well and considered signing bilateral agreements as a framework for the strengthening of cooperation in all of the areas of mutual interest.
