For the second year in a row Croatian Embassy in Tokyo presented opportunities for studying in Croatia to Japanese students at the European Higher Education Fair. This year’s event was held in Japan"s two largest cities Tokyo and Osaka on 19 and 20 May. Representatives of Vern University of Applied Sciences, Algebra University College and Zagreb University of Applied Sciences presented their offer of study programmes at the Study in Croatia booth. Zagreb School of Economics and Management also participated for the second year in a row with their own booth. 81 Higher Education institutions and other exhibitors from 22 countries took part in this event attended by around 1,400 students interested in continuing their education in Europe. The fair was organized by Delegation of the European Union in Japan, together with a number of European and Japanese partners. Japanese students showed interest in English language programmes of Croatian Higher Education Institutions in various fields and on different levels – from summer schools and short term exchange programmes to doctoral studies. Students had many questions concerning cost of studying and living in Croatia, degree recognition, accommodation options, scholarship possibilities, personal safety in Croatia and possibilities to communicate in English in everyday life. The programme of the event included a presentation of Study in Croatia and a matchmaking session for representatives of European and Japanese Higher Education Institutions interested in finding partners for exchange and cooperation. Japanese Government is actively supporting internationalization of the Japanese system of Higher Education, as well as promoting possibilities for the Japanese students to study abroad, which could be an opportunity to expand the cooperation between Croatian and Japanese universities. This year as well, Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia supported the Croatian Participation.
