The Sea Review and Comprehensive Drill marking the 70th Anniversary of the Japanese Coast Guard
The Sea Review and Comprehensive Drill marking the 70th Anniversary of the Japanese Coast Guard (JCG) was held in Tokyo Bay on 20 May 2018. The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan, a number of high ranking Japanese officials as well as several ambassadors and other guests. The officials and the guests were observing the event on board of the JCG patrol vessel Yashima. The Sea Review included all types of vessels, helicopters and aircrafts used by the JCG as well as a parade of vessels of the related Japanese agencies and the US Coast Guard ship. The drill was comprised of activities such as search and rescue by helicopters, capturing and arresting suspected terrorists and maneuvering quick coordinated operations. During the program Ambassador Hrastic had the honor to meet and talk to Prime Minister Abe, Admiral Satoshi Nakajima, Commander of Japan Coastguard and other high ranking Japanese officials.
