On 14 June 2010, at the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) camp on Golan, Syria, there was the commission replacement ceremony between the commanders of the 4th and 5th contingents of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia taking part in the UNDOF mission on Golan.
On 14 June 2010, at the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) camp on Golan, Syria, there was the commission replacement ceremony between the commanders of the 4th and 5th contingents of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia taking part in the UNDOF mission on Golan.
On this occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Slavko Stojanovic, the commander of the 5th contingent of the armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia on UNDOF mission, took over the duty from Major Marijan Maderic, the commander of the 4th contingent.
During the ceremony of taking over as the commander of the contingent, as well as taking over as deputy commander of the Austrian battalion (Croatian commander is put in charge automatically), Croatian military marches were played.
The ceremony was attended by the UNDOF Commander and UN Assistant Secretary General General Major Natalio C. Ecarma III, the Ambassadors of Croatia and Austria, Dražen Margeta and Maria Kunz, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to the Syrian Arab Republic, Khouchaba Nissan, the representative of the Ministry of Defence of the Syrian Arab Republic, General Darwish, defence attaches accredited to the diplomatic missions to the Syrian Arab republic, and commanders of national UNDOF contingents.
The audience was addressed by UNDOF Commander General Ecarma III, commanders of the national contingents of Austria and Croatia, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Dražen Margeta. In his address General Ecarma III emphasised the high professionalism of Croatian soldiers and extremely good relations between Croatian soldiers and soldiers from other national contingents. Ambassador Margeta summarized the developments in Croatia over the past twenty years, speaking about the success of the UN mission to Croatia and the transformation from the state receiving UN peace-keeping missions to a state participating and contributing with its expertise and experience to more than ten UN missions world-wide. He wished the members of the 5th contingent of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia success in their service in the next six months, and thanked the commander of the 4th contingent for his exquisite contribution to the UNDOF mission on Golan and the high professional criteria they established.
