Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic, on his first day of visit to the State of Qatar, met October 25th 2009 with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalif Al Thani and State Minister of Business and Trade Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah.The meeting was attended by H.E. It was an exceptionally cordial and friendly meeting with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalif Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, to which Croatian companies have exported $87.5 million worth of goods and services in the first eight months of this year.
Minister Jandrokovic reviewed the very good and friendly bilateral relations between Croatia and Qatar, communicating the Croatian side's wish for their further deepening and enhancement, for which there are real possibilities in all areas of activity.
Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa expressed satisfaction with his recent stay in Croatia, voicing full support for the further strengthening of our two countries' relations and cooperation.
Both sides expressed interest for Croatian companies doing business in Qatar and the realization of Qatari investments in Croatia, which companies over there are seriously counting on. As special areas of cooperation tourism and construction were pointed out.
The meeting with State Minister of Business and Trade Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah also confirmed that the two countries' very good and friendly relations offer possibilities of further developing and enhancing the mutual economic relations in various areas. The collocutors agreed that Croatia's greatest potential lies in tourist industry, the building of infrastructure, and shipbuilding industry, for which Qatar has shown great interests.
The strengthening of economic cooperation will be stimulated, the collocutors agreed, with the coming into effect of the Agreement on the Cancellation of Double Taxation (January 1st 2010), as well as with other bilateral economic agreements currently being negotiated. Minister Jandrokovic presented in short the branches of Croatia's economy, which with their products and services could be of interest to Qatar.
