Business forum Oman, october 2009

During his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic, accompanied by H.E. Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Dražen Margeta, participated October 24th 2009 in the Croatia-Oman Economic Forum held at the Chamber of Commerce in Muscat, along with the two countries' economic delegations.

During his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic, accompanied by H.E. Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Dražen Margeta participated October 24th 2009 in the Croatia-Oman Economic Forum held at the Chamber of Commerce in Muscat, along with the two countries' economic delegations. Apart from the opening speech by Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce Khalil bin Abdullah, Minister Jandrokovic addressed the present parties as well. He pointed out that it is in Croatia's economic interest to explore the economic possibilities of cooperation between Croatia and Oman, as well as to deepen and strengthen the economic cooperation. The minister invited the Omani side to intensify the activities of the Croatian market, which already is firmly connected with the EU members' markets and markets of the countries of South Eastern Europe. “This forum”, said the minister, “is a good platform for familiarizing our business subjects with the market potential and existing capital projects in Oman”. He pointed out the importance of regular mutual visits by high officials and expert delegations. The areas suggested for the further strengthening of cooperation include building infrastructural and energy facilities and energy distribution equipment, as well as the research, exploitation and distribution of oil and gas, which the Omani economy is founded on. Further areas of joint interest include food and timber industry, and shipbuilding. Saying that Croatian companies already are present in Oman in oil and gas investment business, the minister welcomed Omani investments in different Croatia's development projects, especially Croatian ports and free zones. He also emphasized the mutual advantage of joint investments in petrochemistry, chemic and food industry, and tourism. After the minister's speech, Omani representatives presented the Omani economy, as well as the different investment and business opportunities to the Croatian economic delegation. The representative from the Croatian Chamber of Economy spoke about Croatia as a business partner, the representative from the Export and Investment Promotion Agency about investment opportunities in the Croatian economy, and the representative from the Ministry of Tourism about Croatia's tourist potentials.
