Croatian Ambassador indicated priorities Croatian diplomacy would seek to address through the Security Council. He informed the Secretary General Moussa about eleven peace keeping missions worldwide under the auspices of the United Nations that Republic of Croatia is contributing to.
SG Moussa said he is watching closely Croatia's effort for integration to the European Union and expressed his personal view that Croatia is respected in the region for its constructive stands on the Middle East issues.
Ambassador Margeta further informed the Secretary General about co-operation between Croatia and Egypt, Syria, Qatar and Oman in the field of exploration and exploitation of oil and natural gas and also about growing trade exchange between Croatia and the member countries of the League of Arab States. The Ambassador furnished data that showed positive trade balance (export at 398.349.727 US$; import at 93.046.067 US$). He underscored recent succes by Croatian oil company INA which found the new source of oil in the Western desert sufficient for profitable exploitation (3.000 barrels of oil per day is expected capacity).
