El Shatt, All Saints

On the occasion of All Saints day, H.E. Mr. Dražen Margeta, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, commemorated the Croatian World War II victims buried in the Croatian Refugees Cemetery in El Shatt on the Sinai Peninsula.

On the occasion of All Saints day, H.E. Mr. Dražen Margeta, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, commemorated the Croatian World War II victims buried in the Croatian Refugees Cemetery in El Shatt on the Sinai Peninsula. H.E. the Ambassador paid respect with flowers and a minute of silence. From 1944 to 1946, around 27,000 refugees evacuated from the Croatian region of Dalmatia, lived and worked in a camp in El-Shatt, 150 kilometres from Cairo. 856 persons died during their exile and today their remains lie in the El Shatt Cemetery.
