Opening ceremony of the World EXPO

On the last day of April, Shanghai, city of 20 million inhabitants held an opening ceremony of the World EXPO.  President Hu Jintao and the Chinese political elite along with Heads of States of thirty countries enjoyed the magnificent opening ceremony. On the last day of April, Shanghai, city of 20 million inhabitants held an opening ceremony of the World EXPO.  President Hu Jintao and the Chinese political elite along with Heads of States of thirty countries enjoyed the magnificent opening ceremony. The Diplomatic Corps was represented with around 190 Ambassadors, among which Ambassador of Croatia Professor Dr. Ante Simonic was also present.

The 159 years old tradition of organizing large manifestation continues here in Shanghai where under the Better City, better life, whole world celebrates the most advanced human achievements.  There are 192 Countries participating, 50 International organizations; the host city is prepared for receiving 70 million visitors. It is for the first time that World EXPO is hosted by a developing country.

On May 1st Ambassador Simonic had working meeting with Mr. Ivica Maricic, Commissioner General for the World EXPO of the Republic of Croatia and vice President of Huawei (company that sponsored Croatian Pavilion).
