Chinese police officers visit the Embassy before their departure to the Republic of Croatia to participate in the program "Croatia - a safe tourist destination"
In an open and interactive atmosphere, Ambassador Mihelin briefed Chinese policewomen and men about Croatia, Croatian customs and gastronomy, provided other information about working and living conditions, and answered questions about practical details of staying in Croatia. Mostly young, and coming from various parts of China, members of the Chinese police showed enthusiasm about the opportunity to visit Croatia, and related to the positive experiences of their colleagues in earlier years. They were mainly interested in possibilities of traveling within the country, as in addition to the cities where they are assigned, they want to visit other parts of Croatia. One of the questions was if during their stay there was a possibility to attend a concert by Maksim Mrvica, who enjoys great popularity in China.
The program "Croatia - a safe tourist destination", that brings to Croatia police officers from other countries during the summer months, has been implemented for 19 years in order to make a visit to Croatia even safer for tourists. Joint Croatian-Chinese police patrols were conducted for the first time during the 2018 tourist season, and this will be their fifth time, as they were absent during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic years. Joint police patrols have improved the travel experience of Chinese tourists, among other, by bridging language barriers, and strengthened security cooperation and friendship between the two countries, which is particularly significant in the context of the renewed increase in the number of visits to Croatia by Chinese tourists after the end of the pandemic.
