"Slow Days", the movie by a young Croatian director Matija Kluković, was screened with subtitles in Chinese on 15 March 2010 in the auditorium of the French Cultural Center in Beijing which was filled to capacity.  In the presence of the French hostess Ms. Sophie Molinier and Croatian Ambassador Professor Dr. Ante Simonić, the film was introduced by Croatian Deputy Head of Mission in Beijing Dr. Jelena Grčić Polić in French which was translated consecutively into Chinese

Pianist Maksim Mrvica on yet another successful tour in China

Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in the People's Republic of China Professor Dr. Ante Simonić met on 10 November 2009 with Mr. Maksim Mrvica, the renowned pianist from the Croatian coastal city of Šibenik. Croatian tennis players Marin Čilić, Ivan Ljubičić and Ivo Karlović had a small but strong fan support among the staff of the Croatian Embassy and a small group of Croatians working in Beijing during the tennis tournament China Open 2009.  The best placement was attained by Marin Čilić.  By defeating Nikolaj Davidenko, the eighth seeded player in the world and the first tournament winner and the second seeded Rafael Nadal, he reached the finals.  Following this tournament Marin Čilić ranked 13 on the ATP list.

Military parade with far the greatest number of civilian and military participants was held on 1 October 2009 to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.  Along the main street and at the large Tian'anmen Square in the heart of Beijing fifty-six phalanxes, consisting of 8,000 servicemen and women, nearly 500 tanks, missiles and other military vehicles and 151 warplanes, joined the parade. Shown were 52 types of weapons produced in the People's Republic of China, including the most modern nuclear missiles.

During their stay in Beijing on 17 and 18 August Speaker Bebić had four official meetings.  He met with his host Mr. Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the National People's Congress and with Mr. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.  Speaker Bebić was also received by Minister Wang Jiarui, Head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China and Mr. Hua Janmin, Vice-Chairman of the National People's Congress.  All interlocutors thanked Speaker Bebić for a very successful visit by President Hu Jintao to Croatia in June, reiterated their friendship and high degree of political trust, the importance of regular exchange of visits, especially among the parliamentarians and political parties, and pledged their support for realization of concrete cooperation projects.  Special emphasis was placed on economic cooperation, with a focus on attracting Chinese tourists and investments to Croatia, including into the projects of transportation and tourist infrastructure.
