Bringing this show to the stage is very important to her in today's times of the shortage of awareness, consciousness and tense humanity dynamic around the world. "I Miss Communism" is a personal story based on her life. The show is about freedom; political, psychological, spiritual, personal. Ljerka Njerš was inspired for this exhibition by the costumes of the famous opera singer Milka Trnina, which are on permanent display at the Zagreb City Museum. Ljerka Njerš's paintings, full of rich and vibrant colours, exude a theatrical atmosphere. The artist uses a technique she learnt in England. The clay monotypes are one-off works that artist paints on a wet clay plate. She runs off her monotypes on to the paper and finishes them with drawings in Indian ink and paint.
