State Secretary for Political Affairs DSc Davor Božinovic and the Chief Negotiator of Croatia with the European Union, Vladimir Drobnjak, had working consultations with Marten Kokk, State Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, on Thursday, 17 June 2010.
State Secretary for Political Affairs DSc Davor Božinovic and the Chief Negotiator of Croatia with the European Union, Vladimir Drobnjak, had working consultations with Marten Kokk, State Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, on Thursday, 17 June 2010.
Božinovic and Kokk agreed that the relations between the two states were very good, and considered in detail further possibilities for extending and advancing bilateral cooperation. The Chief Negotiator Vladimir Drobnjak reported on the current situation, priorities and efforts invested by the Republic of Croatia to open the remaining three chapters by the end of the Spanish presidency of the EU. He reiterated the readiness of Croatia to finish the negotiations by the end of the year.
State Secretary Kokk said that Estonia fully supports the accession of Croatia to EU membership and its progress in the negotiations. He also expressed readiness to exchange experience once Croatia has acceded, particularly with a view to utilizing the funds of the European Union.
State Secretaries exchanged views on SEE with emphasis on Bosnia and Herzegovina. State Secretary Božinovic stressed that SEE states should be provided clear Euroatlantic prospects, and Croatia would continue to assist them on their way.
They also exchanged views on the experience of the two states concerning NATO membership. Croatia welcomed the conditional decision to include Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Membership Action Plan.
