The first presentation of Croatian products in Ireland will be held at the Royal Dublin Society (Merrion Room) on Thursday, 1 December 2005. Croatia being one of Irish top tourist destinations, the demand of high quality Croatian products in Ireland is growing steadily. Therefore, the aim of the event is to introduce some of the best Croatian products to the Irish market.
The presentation will feature a selection of mainly food and wine products by leading Croatian companies, which will be introduced by David McWilliams, one of the most prominent Irish people who found Croatia as their summer retreat. Olives and olive oil, honey, natural spring water and meat products are just some of the delicacy products Ireland will have an opportunity to taste.
As exclusive food often meets exclusive fashion, the presentation will also feature the prestigious and famous Croata necktie collection. Did you know that the necktie originates from Croats? Namely, Croatian soldiers wore beautifully tied silk and cotton scarves serving in the French army in the 17th century. Thus the fashion of wearing scarves in that manner was known as "á la Croate" (the origin of the French word "la cravate").
This event is jointly organised by the Irish Chamber of Commerce, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Irish Croatian Business Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Dublin.
The Irish Chamber of Commerce and the Croatian Chamber of Economy will also be signing an Agreement of Co-operation, which will be further enhancing the economic and trade relations between Ireland and Croatia, in the context of very positive and friendly bilateral relations between the two countries.
