The reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Croatia was held on Thursday, 24 June 2004 at the Oscar Wilde House in Dublin. Today it is the American College Dublin, who greatly contributed to the success of the event.
The reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Croatia was held on Thursday, 24 June 2004 at the Oscar Wilde House in Dublin. Today it is the American College Dublin, who greatly contributed to the success of the event.
The celebration was attended by 150 guests-representatives of the diplomatic choir (headed by H:E. Most Reverend Giuseppe Lazzarotto, Apostolic Nuncio in Ireland and 35 ambassadors), the political, cultural and media milieu in Dublin, as well as representatives of the Croatian society in Ireland.
The guests were offered Croatian wine and food and were entertained by the music of jazz musician Dražen ?erek, resident in Ireland for a number of years. The Croatian Ambassador Dr Nenad Prelog welcomed all the guests and was very happy to inform of the Croatian dreams that came true in this years Irish summer, namely starting on 20 April the European Commission published a positive avis to the Croatian application, all the way to the granting of candidacy status and beginning of negotiations with Croatia. The Ambassador also used the opportunity to thank Ireland and the Irish presidency of the EU for their support of Croatia.
The hosts were very proud to have presented a Croatian song, namely "More, more" ("Sea, sea"), which was performed by Irish singer Dav McNamara.
