Prior to the commencement of the recital, the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Ms Jasna Ognjanovac greeted the guests and said that this National Statehood Day was being marked at the moment when Croatia had reached the end of the path of the fulfilment of its last goal in the process of building a stable, democratic European state, which was its membership in the European Union. The Ambassador thanked Ireland on its continued support throughout the accession negotiation process of the Republic of Croatia with the European Union, that is reconfirmed by the currently on-going process of ratification of the Accession Treaty of the Republic of Croatia to the EU at the Oireachtas and expressed her belief that Croatia would prove a reliable and trustworthy partner to Ireland and other EU member states.
