Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Damir Kušen held political consultations at the Department of Foreign Affairs during the visit of the Croatian Minister of European Integration Mrs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.. David Cooney, Political Director at the Department of Foreign Affairs congratulated Croatia on its EU candidacy status and reiterated Ireland's support on Croatia's path towards the EU. Assistant Minister Kušen emphasised EU membership as one of the main aims of the Croatian Government. Croatia's EU candidacy status brought about positive changes for the whole region. Croatia is sharing its experiences of rapprochement towards European integrations with its neighbours. Assistant Minister Kušen also met with Mr Rory Montgomery, Head of IGC/EU Constitution and Communicating Europe Section at the Deparment of Foreign Affairs, where the main topics of discussion were Irish experiences in the EU, preparation process for referendums in Ireland and Irish EU Presidency.
