On 17 February 2025, Ambassador Davor Vidiš met with representatives of the Association of Irish Local Government, including the Association's President Kieran O'Hanlon, the Association's Director Tommy Moylan, and Communications Officer Elaine Lynch, at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Dublin.

The Association plays a key role in shaping policies, organizing educational training for councillors, and promoting public awareness of the importance of the contribution of local councillors and local executive authorities. The Association's goal is to strengthen local democracy, empower local communities through effective representative local government, and strengthen the competencies of local councillors.
The President of the Association, Mr. O'Hanlon, pointed out that they are interested in the experiences and knowledge of the Republic of Croatia in local government reform and decentralization, therefore they are planning a study visit to Croatia in May this year to talk to relevant institutions. He suggested the possibility of connecting Croatian and Irish cities through sports and culture, and a question was raised about connecting secondary schools through online cooperation.
Ambassador Vidiš confirmed that the exchange of experiences and knowledge regarding the reform of public administration would be very useful. He also emphasized the excellent cooperation between the cities of Rijeka and Galway, which were together the European Capitals of Culture in 2020. He proposed meetings for the delegation in several Croatian institutions for local and regional government and at the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, and emphasized their readiness for assistance and cooperation in order to realize the study visit.
