IN MEMORIAM – Croatian Homeland War Volunteer Briton Lars Newbould

At the final farewell of the deceased Croatian volunteer Briton Lars Francis Newbould, his family, friends and his British comrades from the Homeland War, members of the British Association of International Volunteers of the Croatian Armed Forces, gathered in the English town of Hastings on October 7, 2025.

At Lars' request, his coffin was covered with the flag of the Republic of Croatia.

Lars Newbould was decorated with the Homeland War Memorial Medal for his courageous contribution in the fierce battles against the Greater Serbian aggression on the front line in the area of Eastern Slavonia and Vinkovci. He also participated in the battles in Bosanska Posavina as a volunteer of the Croatian Defence Council.

He was a member of the official delegation of British volunteers that participated in the marking of the anniversary of the military police operation Storm.

The funeral was also attended by diplomat of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the United Kingdom, Davor Kristić, who laid a wreath on behalf of the Croatian Embassy.

After the funeral ceremony, a procession was organized through his town of Hastings with the gathered citizens.

The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London once again expresses its deep condolences to his family, friends and comrades. May he rest in peace.
